Project Description

This acute care replacement hospital, constructed by Tutor Perini, was the largest capital project undertaken to date by the University of California system. The new hospital was designed to provide high-acuity
and intensive care for 525 patients and observation services for 65 patients.

The project consisted of eight stories above grade and two below; one of which provides parking for about 300 vehicles. The core & shell package included a sub-foundation drainage system, mat foundation, structural steel frame, roof and related mechanical/electrical/plumbing items. The exterior wall package was previously bid and assigned to this contract. Tenant improvements included the balance of the hospital project such as all interior construction, elevators, MEP work, life/safety systems and site finishes. These packages were also bid separately and assigned to Tutor Perini, which provided supervision, coordination, management, and general conditions.
